Has anyone ever heard of an “Amish Wal-mart”? Been to one?
I was at a flee market a few weeks back and a vendor had a HUGE roll of quilt batting. When I asked how much she wanted for it, she said it wasn’t for sale. She told me to hit up an “Amish Wal-mart” because that’s where she got hers while visiting Iowa. She said she also got a lot of fresh fruit and veggies at much better prices than at a grocery store.
So, what exactly is an “Amish Wal-mart” and how do you find one? I’m assuming they are ran by Amish people, but I might be wrong on that. Maybe they are for the Amish to do shopping? I don’t know, but I sure wouldn’t mind being able to by batting and fabric at better prices.

P.S. I’m in Wisconsin. I’ve heard there is a large Amish community in the southern part of the state, near the Iowa boarder. Do you think they would have one of these stores? How would I find it?
That is a slang term used for a large variety store that are frequently used by Amish and Mennonites, and are usually Amish or Mennonite owned. Another slang term used to describe these stores is Mennonite Mall. The stores stock clothing and other goods that would be purchased by these people, but they are opened to anyone. There are many of them in Lancaster County, PA.
BTW, The Amish and Mennonites also shop at real Walmarts.
