Quilts with Braids

If you are anything like I am, when someone mentions hair
braids, it takes me back to my youth and the ratty braids
sticking out of the sides of my head, just above my ears.

For some reason, my mom insisted that I have long hair.

It didn’t make much sense to me, since it was thick and got
tangles in it.

But there I was – hostage to her whims.

She cycled between a ponytail and pig tails – never letting
my hair hang down straight, because that would get too
tangled and hard to comb.

And even the pig tails weren’t allowed to just be – they
were always braided, which seemed to take hours.

Things were different with quilting daughter, Stephanie.

From the time she could make that decision, she decided
how long her hair would be and what the style was.

And for many years, she wanted her hair to be long.

Most of the time, it was just hanging straight down. It
was beautiful golden blond, and had some curl, but not too
much.

Then one day, she decided she wanted a French Braid.

When she showed me pictures of finished French Braids, I
was afraid to even try – it looked so complicated.

And finding instructions was just impossible – of course,
this was way before the internet!

And so we turned to our hairstylist for instruction.

By the time Jeanette finished braiding Stephanie’s hair,
I knew I could at least make a good attempt.

Just a few tips and once or twice doing it myself, and
Stephanie’s hair looked like it was braided by a
professional.

That seems to be the way it is with quilts, too.

And especially French Braid quilts.

These fun and easy-to-make quilts have been around for
several years now, and hundreds of How-to-Quilters have
learned to love creating these complicated-looking quilts.

And now, we have a new and even more exciting resource –
French Braid transformation.

In this brand new resource, not yet in bookstores or quilt
shops, you’ll learn some really fun new techniques for
putting together quilts that remind us of French Braids
and use a simple strip piecing technique.

We can get first in line for this fantastic resource, but
we need to let them know soon.

We’re hoping your name will be on the list:
