Decorating ideas for a historical baby nursery
My husband and I love history, and I want to do a great little nursery that has a historical theme. Of course we will not have murals of blood and guts, but I am going to make an American flag quilt for the crib, frame my husband’s grandpa’s war metals, build a Lincoln Log House for on top of the dresser, have a fake coon skin cap hanging from a shelf with pegs, any other ideas? I want to make it a little more cheerful, but not cheesy. You know what I mean? Too many baby nurseries are horribly cheesy. Thanks.
I forgot to say that my husband is going to paint a mural showing a log house, a pioneer couple, and a ship coming in.
Thanks for the suggestion, but my husband paints pictures and so he is able to do it freehand.
You might find some rough wood baby furniture and go with a kind of pioneer or log cabin look.
Here’s a page with links at the bottom on how to make a rustic log crib or cradle. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the log crib link

Maybe you could use a (fake) bearskin rug on the wall or the floor. Here’s a link to one for babies:

You don’t say if you’re having a boy or a girl, but if you’re having a girl you might use patchwork quilts, homemade baby dolls and hang some pioneer bonnets on your wall pegs.
Here’s a room that might have something you could use but I think your ideas are cuter :

I love the ideas you already have. Here’s site where you might find some ideas that aren’t quite so cookie cutter as you normally find. She’s taken the stuff in stores and added some of her own ideas apparently.
I noticed a contest where you send in your nursery pics to win prizes. You should enter when you’re finished.
